Mind maps

Our view at SAdAS is that problem drug and alcohol use at the level of addiction is due to people trying to cope with the trauma that they have experienced. This trauma may be buried in the past or people may very well know what they are trying to deal with. As such then we believe none of us is more than a tragedy away from drug or alcohol problems. We do not subscribe to the opinion that people will be forever addicted or that they are somehow genetically different to non addicted people.

So we try to help people through the trauma in their lives first of all by practical means and then later through counselling and the like.

The maps we have available here for download are maps that we will use with you if and when you come to us for help. They are designed to help people to think about the issues that affect them and to also recognise the strengths that they have and we thought that if they were available for download people might be able to do some of the work themselves but also would be prepared for what we will be expecting if and when they come to us.

Not all of the maps are easy and some require a great deal of insight. However there are some very simple ones which we think might get you into the right frame of mind for your work with us or even on your own.

I would suggest you start with the easy ones and work through or pick on a map which addresses your particular issue. If you get stuck then leave it and come back.
