HELP & ADVICE

How we can help

Often people can help themselves. We provide a variety of tools to start the process of change off.

We are here to help you find whatever way best suits you to change the aspects of your drug or alcohol use that you want to. You do not have to stop to see us we will work with you towards controlling your drug or alcohol use.

We will signpost you for other treatment from other services where necessary and we will treat you with respect whatever your situation

Drink Diary

This is something that many people find useful - have a look at our drink diary. This gives you patterns of your use as well as linking your use to how you are feeling at the time. It's just the same for drugs as well. Once you have completed you can get a clearer picture of how much, when and what comes before use. So when you decide to cut some out you can see which will be easiest to deal with first.

1:1 Counselling

We can provide 1:1 counselling if you get assessed as being ready for this. All our counselors are highly trained and committed people and without them SAdAS couldn't do the work it does. They are all also focused on alcohol and drug counselling and can provide a wide range of interventions.

Outreach

The majority of SAdAS's work takes place out in the community where people live. We will visit you in your home or wherever you are. We will contact you by phone and keep in touch with you throughout your time with us.

SAdAS works a team approach with its outreach teams which means that you get to meet more than one person so if they are on holiday or ill then you will still have someone who you know looking after your care. Also of course you get more of a choice who to work with.

Service User Group

One of the problems for people who have finished their treatment is that boredom and a lack of meaningful work can get you down. We want to hear what you think of services and we need your help to improve. Our service user group is one way you can do this and meet like minded people who have been through the same or similar situations as yourself.

Our service user group is self governing and self motivated and meets regularly to feed advice back to us and upwards to the people who fund our services. You can get in touch through our office on 01483 590 150 or though the contact details on our service user group page

Group Work

SAdAS offers a variety of groups which you can access. We know this can be a bit scary to start with but our groups are friendly and supportive. Groups change but we are currently running a relapse prevention group, a Women's group, a general support group and an anger management group.

SAdAS also recognises that drugs and alcohol affect everyone not just the user and we are here to help friends and family also. We maintain the users confidentiality at all times.
