ABOUT SADAS

Trustees

We are always keen to hear from people with experience of helping deal with drug and alcohol addiction issues.

SAdAS currently has seven Trustees - read their biographies.

Why be a Trustee?

Southern Addictions Advisory Service (SAdAS) is an innovative and leading local charity with 30 years experience in providing specialist support and treatment to people whose addictions (often drugs or alcohol) can be harmful to themselves, their families and/or their local communities.

Through our comprehensive range of best practice services we have built up a considerable track record in this challenging area of work of successfully helping people put their lives back on track. You can help us to continue that good work and ensure SAdAS gets even better at what it does.

The Role of a Trustee

These are voluntary unpaid posts. Trustees attend no less than four board meetings a year (normally in Guildford) as well as supporting aspects of the charity's work on an ad-hoc basis. On appointment, new Trustees undergo an induction programme.

Trustees are responsible for the direction and performance of SAdAS and its senior management team. You could help our senior management team continue to improve and expand upon its high quality and effective services through sound oversight, change management support, leadership development and performance accountability.

Each Trustee holds a legal position as a director of SAdAS for the purposes of Company and Charity law. Whilst the role at times can be very challenging it is extremely interesting and rewarding.

Interested in being a SAdAS Trustee?

We are always interested in looking for potential new Trustees who have skills that will enhance our SAdAS Board, our Governance role, and the support we give to both our paid and voluntary staff.

In particularly we are interested in people with legal, performance management and fundraising skills plus those who have been involved in public sector commissioning services. This is in addition to the softer skills (i.e. internal and external communication, team working, problem solving, facilitating decision making, etc).

Many of those we help are younger people, so we are particularly keen to attract people from a similar age group, who live and/or work in Surrey.
